New Zealand born, Swiss-based singer-songwriter, producer, and musician Connor Mac today releases a heart-felt new single, Purpose, a sweet, sincere track that conjures up the universal theme of a love unrealised.

One of a new generation of talent who is beginning to cut through the noisy digital landscape of the music industry, Connor Mac deserves to be firmly on your radar. Now, at the age of 24, he is ready to push his self-produced solo work out to the world.
A smooth pop artist with a uniquely neo-soul and organic sound, Connor is an exciting talent with an increasing global following. His new single Purpose explores feelings for someone that have been denied and buried deep, but are bound to resurface when that person is seen again.
A song about the right person but the wrong time, Purpose shows the depth of his strong song-writing abilities and beauteous perspectives. “It’s about a girl in my life who I’ve always had an amazing connection with, that’s clearly beyond friendship, but the timing has never been right between us to explore it”, says Connor. A connection unfulfilled, potential unrealised, an undeniable spark left to die out.
“The narrative point of view switches between verses to reveal the vulnerability of each person, removing any concept that one may be more to blame than the other. Their longing, pain and emotions are shared. There’s an honest desperation which runs through the lyrics and bleeds into the vocal melodies and harmonies. I hope the song resonates with something people may be feeling, or a past memory.”
Accompanied by a stunning music video that was shot in New Zealand earlier this year, Purpose shows the depth of his strong song-writing abilities and beauteous perspectives.
Connor grew up in a musical family in the countryside outside of Palmerston North, but since moving overseas to Switzerland, Connor has made the most of it by honing his live performance skills, regularly playing acoustic at bars, hotels, ski resorts, and managing to secure slots playing at exclusive private events all over Europe.
Like many artists, Connor took full advantage of the pandemic lockdown to expand on his roots in music production, and to continue to work on his original music. Purpose, was one of them. Purpose was written, recorded, and produced by Connor in his little home studio in Verbier last year, he says “it felt right recording and producing this specific song in a safe and comfortable space, because it is so personal to me.” Mastered by Australia’s Joe Carra, final mixing was completed at Hana Road Studios in Montreaux, Switzerland.
Connor has been busy building up an impressive body of work, including silky tune Like I Used To Be ; soulful number Spacemen ; and a stripped-back cover of Unforgettable by French Montana & Swae Lee. Now with an incredible 2 million+ streams to date, new track Purpose is sure to build on his already substantial international audience.
His lovelorn songs reveal a stunningly honest vulnerability in their lyrics, and Purpose is a perfect example of this. “I like to keep my lyrics honest and personal, and echo the emotion of the words in the melodies of my songs. Although I write these songs for myself, I hope that the vulnerability can be felt by anyone who is listening.”
