Six60 Saturdays 2022 – The Stadium Tour. After rescheduling the tour from February and March earlier this year due to Covid restrictions, Six60 Saturdays is now almost upon us beginning in a little over two months’ time at Wellington's Sky Stadium on October 29.
In what is a new chapter for Six60, today sees the release of their new single Before You Leave. They have also announced that their fourth studio album Castle Street will be released on Oct 7. These shows will be fans' first chance to see these songs played live in what promises to be a kick start to Summer of epic proportions!
In further exciting news, Six60 are stoked to announce the support line-ups for each of their SIX Stadium shows including some international heavy hitters including Coterie who will be performing their debut New Zealand shows at each stop on Six60 Saturdays.
Australian smash hit maker Tones and I (pictured) will be joining the line-up in Wellington in what will be her only New Zealand show this summer. With her record-breaking hit Dance Monkey, propelling her onto the global stage in 2019, Tones and I spent a record 24 weeks at #1 in Australia, became the most Shazamed single of all time, the most streamed song ever by a woman artist on Spotify and the first Top 5 Billboard Hot 100 hit solely written by a woman since 2012. Going seven times Platinum in New Zealand, there’s no denying that Tones and I will bring her infectious energy to Sky Stadium on Oct 29.
Joining the bill in Christchurch and Auckland is Australian sibling indie heroes Lime Cordiale. Beginning in 2009 playing every gig they could, Lime Cordiale are now regarded as one of Australia’s hottest musical exports. With tracks such as Robbery, Temper Temper and Waking Up Easy they are no stranger to our shores with their jangly surf rock fast becoming a firm favourite for their legions of Kiwi fans.
In what is a total coup for Kiwi fans, Aotearoa’s favourite groove masters Supergroove will bring their legendary brand of funk infused rock to the stage in Wellington and Auckland. Led by powerhouse Che Fu, the stalwarts of the New Zealand music scene first grooved their way into our consciousness in 1994 with their debut album Tractor. Hits such as Can’t Get Enough, Sitting Inside My Head and Scorpio Girls are sure to bring the house down, made even more special as these guys haven’t played together since 2017.
Kora (pictured) will take the stage in Rotorua and Dunedin. Hailing from Whakatane and releasing their self-titled debut full length album in 2004, Kora are renowned for live performances of epic proportions. Tracks such as On My Mind, Politician and Burning are entrenched in Kiwi consciousness.
Needing no introduction to Six60 Saturdays are local heroes Drax Project. Hot on the heels of their latest EP Diamond featuring fan favourites Hollywood and Fashion Sense, Drax Project are a welcome addition to the Napier show.
Also joining the bill in Napier are hit makers Sons of Zion. From humble beginnings, the reggae outfit have amassed over 22 million streams on Spotify, 15 million views on YouTube and over 100,000 followers on social media. With hits such as Drift Away, Love On The Run and brand new single Come To Bed, Sons Of Zion will bring the groove to Six60 Saturdays Napier.
Rob Ruha, singer of monster hits 35 and That’s Where I’ll Be which both topped national airplay charts will take the stage with Ka Hao a youth choir from Te Tairāwhiti in Rotorua. In what promises to be a special performance.
Drum n Bass titans Lee Mvtthews (pictured) will bring the beats to the stage in Christchurch. With their debut album Bones having just gone Gold and their earworm Takeover now Double Platinum, there’s no doubt that Lee Mvtthews have brought electronic music to the masses and their set promises to be electrifying.
Singer songwriter Mitch James is renowned for his infectious pop tunes. His latest new single Motions is out now. James cut his teeth in Dunedin often citing the town as one that shaped him, and it’s Dunedin fans who will get the chance to see him open for Six60 in March 2023.
Ladi6 needs no introduction to Kiwi audiences. Having released three solo studio albums spawning hits such as Like Water and Walk Right Up, Ladi6 has also collaborated with some of Aotearoa’s biggest acts. In 2021 she was named a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to music acknowledging her career that spans over two decades. She will grace the stage at Auckland’s Eden Park on November 19.
Award winning singer songwriter Paige will complete the lineup in Napier. No stranger to the Six60 Saturdays Tour, having joined the tour in previous years, Paige has been diligently building her loyal fan base writing introspective pop songs. With tracks such as Bloom, Waves and brand new single I Hope You Knew, Paige is an artist on the rise and not to be missed.
Auckland based country pop star Kaylee Bell (pictured) will join the lineup in Rotorua. Hot on the heels of her most successful song to date Keith, Kaylee appeared on The Voice AU singing her original song and flooring the judges. Having opened for stadium act Keith Urban in the past, Kaylee’s infectious brand of pop country is sure to set the tone for Six60 Saturdays Rotorua.
Completing the lineup in Wellington is Niko Walters. Having just completed his own headline tour celebrating his debut album White Flag Waves Niko has a knack for writing slow burn RnB pop tunes that get the crowd grooving. Not My Neighbour is now triple Platinum in Aotearoa.
Wellington based pop newcomer Riiki Reid released her debut EP Newer Oxygen in May this year and will open the show in Ōtautahi. Her single High Heights has had over 2 million streams thousands of views on YouTube; commercial and independent radio airplay; local and international playlist placements; media and blog attention; and industry recognition and representation – including a signing with WME – the world’s longest-running talent agency, and Warner Music.
Hina is a welcome addition to the Six60 Saturdays show in Dunedin. Having released numerous singles and an EP, Hina has collaborated with some of NZ’s finest artists and the singer songwriter has a new EP Tararua on the horizon.
Playing all six shows are Perth based brothers Coterie (pictured). These shows will be the first ever shows on New Zealand soil for the Māori siblings of Te Aupouri, Ngāpuhi, Ngāi Te Rāngi descent making the occasion even more momentous. Their first hit single Cool It Down is certified Gold in Aotearoa, has spent over four months in NZ’s Top 10 Radio Airplay chart, peaking at #3 overall and spending over 3 weeks at #1 in the Official New Zealand Hot Singles chart. Showing no signs of stopping, Coterie have amassed more than 5 million streams, over 250k YouTube views and upwards of 49k TikTok followers, while forming a steadily growing army of fans in their wake. Their most recent single Killing It Off also hit #1 on the Official New Zealand Hot Singles chart and is on track to be another smash hit!
