Seven of the biggest, brightest and boldest New Zealand music acts are set to rock Vector Arena at the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards – and all Kiwi music fans can be part of the action!
Kora, Shihad, Cut off your Hands, Anika Moa, Tiki Taane and Scribe are all confirmed to perform in front of the 5,000-strong crowd.
For a mere $47 New Zealand music fans can enjoy a diverse mix of music – from the rocking sounds of Shihad to the hip-hop hits of Scribe.
Legendary Dunedin band Straitjacket Fits – the recipient of the 2008 New Zealand Herald Legacy Award – is set to be honoured at the ceremony with a special performance by the “Fast Women”. This one-off all girl super-group will perform Straitjacket Fits’ She Speeds and is led by Fur Patrol’s Julia Deans with support from Anika Moa, Lani Purkis and Greta Anderson.
Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards spokesperson Campbell Smith says the on-stage entertainment will be spectacular for those smart enough to get tickets.
“We have put a lot of efforts into making this years ceremony really entertaining. Tiki’s performance is going to be fantastic as he takes to the stage with the Te Pou O Mangatawhiri Kapa Haka group - providing extra oomph to his already powerful music.
“This is only the third year music fans have been able to get into the awards. The amount of support we receive has been so incredible we’ve had to shift to the Vector Arena to open this up from an industry-only do to a true celebration of New Zealand music.”
There’s always heaps of action on the red carpet too. This year is no different with loads of free entertainment, spot prize give-aways and C4 Select Live filming before the event.
You don’t have to be a ticket holder to get in on the action; just make sure you get down there early to guarantee a good spot.
Campbell Smith says the red carpet arrival signals an opportunity for fans to catch up in person with their favourite celebrities and musicians arriving for the show.
“The red carpet is always a big occasion and it’s great to see the fans turn out for the arrivals. This year Phil Bostwick is covering all the red carpet action which will be included in the C4 broadcast from 8.30pm on Wednesday October 8.”
Public tickets to the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards cost just $47 plus booking fee and are available exclusively through Ticket Master.
