On a sunny Saturday and Sunday at the Dux De Lux, RDU98.5Fm held the biggest DJ/Band competition in Christchurch with over 60 bands playing at Roundup in the Tavern Bar and over 30 Deejays battling it out upstairs in the lounge bar. Credit to the Dux De Lux crew for hosting this huge event on what turned out to be an excellent weather weekend inside and outside the venue.
Dux de Lux Roundup
Again as expected the range of music played was vast – from pop to indie, tech metal to solo folk rock, the caliber was higher than ever before and safe to say the competition has never been as fierce! Congratulations to all entrants and good luck for the next round!
Decknology
The range of music was huge spanning hip-hop, breaks, psy, dub, house, rave, hardcore, electro, hard dance, trance, dubstep - even a splash of indie and reggae… but the most well represented was of course, Drum & Bass with half of the entrants bringing a range of mixing styles in this genre.
Regardless of the genre - we’re stoked to say the quality of mixing has been extremely high and the next stage will be quality start to finish, so check it out!
Results
The results have been gathered and the scores collated. We have narrowed it down with the top 16 from each competition going through to the next stage (Thursday 11th and Friday 12th September - 8pm). For more details on who made it through, check out the RDU website - www.rdu.org.nz
