On Friday 2nd & Saturday 3rd September, Going Global Music Summit is gathering an amazing array of international music experts to Roundhead Studios.
Their advice, anecdotes and discussion will teach key skills to Aotearoa/NZ musicians and music professionals through panels, masterclasses and presentations to succeed in the international music market.
Going Global Music Summit announces 16 new speakers working in the international music space that will deliver the latest on how to get ahead in international pathways, and advancing ideas in an ever-changing music business landscape.
Grammy Award winning kiwi producer extraordinaire, Joel Little, (Lorde, Taylor Swift, Sam Smith) and his manager, Ashley Page (Jawsh 685, Navvy) will be the Saturday Keynote session for the summit, interviewed by Sarah Thomson (NZ On Air Music). Australian radio aficionados, Sam Wicks (Double J/ABC) and Jason Moore (Triple R, The Gasometer) will be sharing their knowledge on the landscape across the ditch and how they choose what they play. Highly regarded publicist, Chloe Melick (Inside Out PR), will spill the beans on how to cut through the noise in AU and the UK.
Music lawyers Stephen King (Media Arts Lawyers) and Dan Chisholm (Mortlock McCormack Law) are set to give the lowdown on what to look out for in contracts and advise when to engage with a lawyer. Publishing can be a great revenue stream for artists and Pennie Black from Native Tongue Publishing (NZ), Tim Bern from music sharing company Disco and Theo Seffusatti from Warp Publishing (UK/NZ) will be on site to explain the mysterious world of publishing.
Music publishing, A&R and sync veteran, Rachel Kelly is VP at Utopia Music, the European music tech and data solutions specialist and as a member of the 2019 Billboard’s International Power Players List is definitely one Aotearoa musicians will be looking out for. Also in the digital realm Benjamin James (GYROstream) and Ashley Gay (Xelon Digital & Noisehive) will be sharing the latest advances from the digital space of the music business.
International event management company, 212 Music Group are lending us their head honcho, Cary Caldwell for the weekend to share all the hot tips of showcasing internationally. Keeping us all real is Maria Amato, Melbourne-based CEO of AIR (Australian Independent Record Labels Association) and the new chair of Madrid-based WIN (Worldwide Independent Network). On the local front, Ant Healey (APRA AMCOS NZ), Jo Oliver (Recorded Music NZ) and Cath Andersen (NZ Music Commission) will give us an overview of our market today, while Dean Cameron (Recorded Music NZ), Liz Diamond (Recorded Music NZ) and Jo present an interactive workshop on Copyright and Neighbouring Rights.
