Silcrow Release New Single 'Keep The Silence'

16 September 2022 - 0 Comments

Today, Silcrow release Keep The Silence, the gargantuan debut single marking the start of a new era for the band since their name change from Close To The Bone. Moody and in your face from the start, Keep The Silence marks the brilliant start to the new era with incredible melodic guitars, dynamic brilliance and in your face vocals as Silcrow look to state their claim for the most promising new band around right now. Having received countless amounts of coverage from various outlets already as well as a growing figure in their local live music scene, the band are simply going from strength to strength and Keep The Silence is no exception. You can listen to it here.

Musically, Keep The Silence feels moody and attitude filled from the start. However, once the drums kick, hard hitting and blistering are words that come to mind when describing this track. This is definitely their most ambitious one yet. A rhythmical masterpiece matched with the dark sounding vocals creates a well calculated blend of musicianship and songwriting credibility. Whats more, when it breaks down into the middle 8, the half time mosh worthy breakdown is something that words cannot describe, It's exciting, It’s heavy, It’s loose your mind worthy. A track that definitely wouldn’t feel out of place on download’s main stage.

Of the track, Silcrow says: “Keep The Silence was written just before we entered a very tumultuous period. Dealing with COVID lockdown restrictions in NZ and downsizing to a 4 piece band. Knowing we had this song in our repertoire of new music was part of the glue that kept us together during a time we could have easily fallen apart. The title for the song was taken from a sign outside the our band’s rehearsal space telling us to be quiet as we moved from the entrance to the practice room."

What you’re left with is three minutes and thirty seconds of pure hard rocking music that is just begging to be heard. A band making their mark from the off and setting the bar incredible high for everyone else to try and reach. A band on top of their game, with a clear outline and vision for what the new era entails. If Silcrow aren’t careful people might start mistaking them for an act far bigger than they really are; and with tracks like these and their live shows to boot, just give them a few years and there’s little doubt they’ll be reaching those heights too.
