It follows the release of his single Time and Place which has clocked up an impressive 118,000 streams on Spotify in only a matter of months.
Perceive sees the young artist delving into the darker, moodier side of his signature bedroom R&B sound. The track showcases Doma Cyno’s impeccable vocals and blends his laidback delivery with sultry production that bounces and swells.
In keeping with Doma Cyno’s DIY approach to music, Perceive was recorded at home. He then took the track to Sydney-based Liam Quinn who produced, mixed and mastered it. “This is the first song I recorded with a proper mic, straight after saving up for it. I remember getting sent back the first mix and thinking ‘Wow, I’m the man’,” laughs Doma Cyno.
Perceive is an angst-heavy song, which Doma Cyno explains is “disjointed thoughts from the perspective of someone in a bad relationship and in denial. On the hook, they’re asking for a relationship to stay as it is, and on the verses, they’re acting all bravado like they’re the commodity in the relationship.” he says.
The singles Time and Place, and now Perceive will make up a body of work that Doma Cyno is planning to release in 2023.
Influenced by contemporary R&B and old crooners alike Doma Cyno (pronounced CHEE-noh) sets his sights on cultivating lush melodies, set with modern, progressive production. His first release in 2020 - the Interpolations EP - earned him a mild ‘hometown hero’ status with friends and people in his city.
