James Constable’s new single, Sirius Is Rising, is being independently released to all platforms today. The song is a rousing, atmospheric anthem, written to anybody who doubts their future path or place in the world. The song, however, started off a lot more personal. “I actually started writing the lyrics for this song at about 2:00am one night, mainly revolving around my own doubts to make it as a musician”, James remembers. “Not much of that sentiment made it only the final record but most of the lyrics did”.
James has made a bit of a splash in the Christchurch music scene over the past few years, having gone from playing small open mics to playing large events such as the North Canterbury Wine And Food Festival, and playing a number of headlining shows in the city. Now he is beginning to play further afield, having made his Dunedin debut at the Nook and Cranny Music Festival in May, and playing his first headlining show in Auckland at The Wine Cellar in September. James also released his most recent album, Tui, in June 2021, which has received just shy of 2000 streams on Spotify and received critical acclaim.
Following on from his 2022 single I Want To Save Someone, Sirius Is Rising is also the second single from his upcoming album Interesting Times, scheduled for release in May 2023.
