Ōtautahi-based alt-folk tangoist Hannah Everingham has unveiled a new music video for Go On ahead of her first Ōtepoti live appearance, celebrating the release of her sublime debut album Between Bodies. Revealing a secret taste for vintage film documentation, Go On’s new visual accompaniment paints a sketch of an odd dancehall meeting and house-band stiffness.
Her Ōtepoti live debut takes place at Maggie’s on April 22nd alongside Flying Nun stalwarts Robert Scott (The Bats, The Clean) and Francesca Griffin (Look Blue Go Purple) playing a tuneful assortment of tunes new and old. Everingham takes the stage with a three-person band, heaving percussive groove and stationed low-end to provide a charming set piece to her artful lyricism.
Released independently in November of last year, Between Bodies was noted by Flying Nun Records as “...a truly wonderful and impressive debut”, with RNZ placing lead single So Long Underground in their coveted Best Singles of 2022 list. Recorded with prolific producer and engineer Thomas Isbister, the album is an 8-track offering of love and separation and an exploration of the distance between us all.
