The York Street Recording Studios Band Experiments for 2009 is promising to be spectacular.
The event is hosted by the newly formed Hamilton Live Music Trust. The Trust has secured ZM as its media partner for the event. This week the 16 bands which will compete in the event were chosen.
Nick Johnston from the Trust said that the Trust was thrilled by the response from entrants.
“We’re thrilled by the response we’ve had from entrants so far. We've had 30 entries, many of which are very high caliber, so choosing 16 entrants for the 4 heats was extremely difficult”.
Among the 30 entrants were local favorites Dick Dynamite and the Doppelgangers, Milk Train and Knights of the Dub Table. The Trust did not disclose the 16 heat participants but Nick Johnston did advise that the first heat will see performances from Dinosaurgoesrawr, NRG rising, the Sherriffs and Zoe Cook y Las Flores de Calabazas. A total of 16 bands are bidding for nationwide exposure and prizes including recording time at York Street Recording Studios.
Along with the high caliber of entrants, Nick Johnston advised that the panel of judges for the 2009 York Street Recording Studios Band Experiments were also a talented group of people.
“The Hamilton Live Music Trust is excited that it has managed to secure some extremely talented judges who bring with them a wealth of music industry experience”.
Nick Johnston said the judges will be officially announced on the night of the first heat.
To find out who the judges are and to experience what’s promising to be a spectacular event for yourself, get along to heat one of the York Street Band Experiments, Thursday 17th September at Flow Bar 266 Victoria St, Hamilton. Entry $5, doors open at 8pm.
