Hailing from the picturesque coastal town of New Plymouth, New Zealand, three-piece guitar-pop band The Doublejumps have just released their eagerly awaited debut album, Asleep At Lunchtime. Olivia Day and Kayleb Duckett bring a harmonious blend of female and male vocals that define The Doublejumps' captivating sound, characterized by instantly catchy melodies. Backed by the drumming prowess of Rodney Cruden-Powell, the band's tight-knit chemistry adds an extra layer of musical excellence to their songs.
"The name comes from a poster I saw in my classroom at school when I was a kid." shares Kayleb, referring to a grammar poster featuring "[email protected]" as an example of how to use an @ symbol. This intriguing title reflects the conditions in which the album was created and captures the nostalgia that defines the album's sound.
The Doublejumps have partnered with the Italian indie record label Almost Halloween Time for this release. Notably, 100 copies of the album will be available on vinyl, with each copy featuring a unique, individually hand-painted album cover by label artist Luigi Falagario. The album was primarily recorded at home by the band, with a special mention to Chris Foreman at Swampshack Studio for his assistance in engineering the drum recording.
To celebrate this milestone, The Doublejumps will perform a hometown show in New Plymouth at Eight Ball Pool & Darts on September 23.
Asleep At Lunchtime is available now on all streaming platforms.
