Banished Music are slip-slop-slapping with excitement to announce that the supreme summer series The Beach Ball is back, and bigger than ever! That’s right, sun’s out fun’s out, with shows around the motu headlined by none other than Sir Dave Dobbyn, accompanied by The Beths in Oakura and Elemeno P in Coromandel, and a special one-off Beach Ball headlined by The Black Seeds with support from Racing in Kerikeri!
Friday December 29th, our favourite Northland destination Kerikeri plays host to a Beach Ball for the first time, with the summer ready sounds of The Black Seeds set to soundtrack the end of your year in their inimitable reggae-inspired style. Pōneke’s finest will play the big tunes plucked from over two decades of their iconic releases.
Joining the bill with their truly unique melding of airtight rock’n’roll and space-age disco grooves is Racing. Rock radio phenom, the band are well oiled from a year of massive shows, and are all set to help you see 2023 in epic style at The Old Packhouse.
Next up, returning to the ultimate New Years Eve spot of Ōakura’s Butlers Reef, it’s the phenomenal one-two punch of Kiwi songwriting legend Sir Dave Dobbyn, and a homecoming welcome of mammoth proportions for indie darlings The Beths, ensuring The Beach Ball is the only place to be for your NYE moment.
Needing no introduction whatsoever, Sir Dave Dobbyn is nothing short of a household name in Aotearoa, with a career spanning four decades of stone cold classics. Expect crowd-pleasers galore as Sir Dobbo and his unbelievable band throw down the hits that earned him the royal nod of approval.
Fresh back for a victory lap after a year of seemingly endless touring across North America, the UK and Europe, The Beths have well and truly earned their stripes. Their effervescent indie rock anthems have seen them handpicked to tour with the likes of The National, The Postal Service and Death Cab For Cutie; praised unanimously by the likes of Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and UPROXX; and earned them countless awards back home, including Rolling Stone Aotearoa’s 2023 Global Award. Expect nothing but “simply the Beths-t” with ridiculously memorable songs from their trio of flawless albums.

With band members scattered across the globe, catching Elemeno P live is as rare as spotting the elusive Mexican Burrowing Toad in the wild, so get in while you can!
