Support slots announced for American hardcore punk supergroup OFF! January 2024 tour

10 November 2023 - 0 Comments

OFF! - Los Angeles-based supergroup of hardcore punk rock legends Keith Morris (Black Flag, Circle Jerks), Dimitri Coats (Burning Brides), Mario Rubalcaba (Hot Snakes/Rocket From The Crypt) and Autry Fulbright II (And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead) - are set to hit three select Aotearoa stages in early January 2024, unleashing their might on what are guaranteed to be packed shows of awestruck punters.

OFF! were last here ten years ago, handpicked by Red Hot Chili Peppers to open their 2013 world stadium tour. OFF!'s 2022 release, Free LSD, received rave reviews from media around the globe ("...a gloriously weird triumph" (Allmusic), "It's bracing, intense stuff...the earache is addictive." (Mojo, 2022).

Proving why they rule the punk rock universe, their full-length release
was accompanied by their feature film Free LSD, starring members of OFF!, Jack Black, David Yow (Jesus Lizard), Chelsea Debo, Chloe Dykstra, (and so many others!), which toured the indie-film circuit to much acclaim in early January 2023.

OFF! have announced their NZ Supports, as follows:

Wellington - Saturday 6 January - Meow

Meow Touring welcomes Displeasure as support for OFF! at Meow!

Displeasure is a band based in Whanganui and Pōneke. Known for their high energy shows of synth bass, power drums, guitar shredding and PA scorching vocals. They are staunchly in support of all whanau in the LGBQTI+ community and have been conscious in bringing visibility to gender diversity within the punk movement and the live music scene. They are unequivocal in their condemnation of those who deny the rights and existence of trans and non-binary folk. On their album notes they quote Tina Ngata's A Note for Our Rangatahi Resistance “The world you are being handed is one in turmoil, with an uncertain future. Truth be told – this trajectory of peril has been set for some time now, but never before were we able to access proof of that peril, expose it, and speak out to it, as we have been now..."

Raglan - Sunday 7 January - Yot Club

The Raglan show has been turned into a F#ck! OFF! Holiday in the sun, with bands OFF!, Grown Downz, Cindy, Two Skinner, No Brainers, The Clap, Sonomass!

Andy Meek, owner of Yot Club says, "To celebrate the American punk royalty that are Off! the Yotty will be running a 100% Live Punk Rock Sunday session on Sunday 7th January. Our Sunday Sessions are globally famous and are usually DJ based, but hey it's not every day Keith fkn Morris ex-Black Flag/Circle Jerks singer comes to town.

"I was inundated quickly with bands I love wanting to play so we are really going for it here. Outside stage till 10 pm. Inside till 1:00am."

Auckland - Monday 8 January - Whammy

Susie Says! is excited to announce Dick Move as support for OFF! at Whammy!

Energised by a strong community fighting for important social change and a need to turn late night political chat into action, Dick Move was formed in the depths of Karangahape Road’s Whammy! Bar and has become an essential party punk voice for women, working people, and for all those that are fired up to make change in the world.

Made up of Aotearoa punk stalwart Justin Rendell (PCP Eagles, Shitripper), prolific harmoniser Hariet Ellis (Na Noise, BOZO) and long-time moshers, first time shredders Lucy Suttor, Luke Boyes and Lulu Macrae, Dick Move spit out short sharp hot takes that call to the increasingly fucked up world around them. Notorious already for their pumping live shows, Dick Move’s catalogue of blink-and-you’ll-miss-it punk anthems are cutting, confronting, empowering and dripping with brash cheekiness and political angst.

6 Jan - Wellington, Meow
Presented by Meow Touring

7 Jan - Raglan, Yot Club
Presented by Yot Club

8 Jan, Auckland, Whammy
Presented by Consume TOURism and Susie Says!
