Fun-loving free-wheeling musical adventurers Flaxxies drop new song Liquid Gold, another dose of their signature sun-drenched reggae-dub, roots-rock’n’blues, to kick-start their upcoming run of summer festival shows.
Not wasting any time between releases, Liquid Gold quickly follows the release of their most recent EP Sunstruck, which received widespread radio airplay and delivered three Hot 20 NZ Single entries with Snapped Up (By The Boss), Time To Go, and Cast Me Away.
With summer just around the corner, the five BFFs are getting ready to take their unique mix of sonically eclectic tunes and good vibes on the road to party with some of New Zealand’s favourite artists over the upcoming festival season.
A standalone single that was recorded around a year ago before work even began on the Sunstruck EP, with Liquid Gold the band pull out another upbeat sunny tune set to heat up the dancefloor, perfectly timed as they prepare to hit the live festival circuit this summer.
“We didn’t want to wait any longer to put it out because we’re keen to share it, as it’s been in our back catalogue for some time now. So saying it’s exciting to finally release it would be an understatement”,say the band.
With Liquid Gold, lead singer Benji Humphries communicates an emotional journey addressing the struggle of processing generational trauma and the unseen, unspoken toll it can take on your life, in the hope it may resonate with others.
Benji explains: “The song is centered around my own experience and how I worked to process through the ways it impacted my life. Hopefully it will establish common ground with those who have also grown through similar circumstances.”
If you’re looking for a song to crank up and enjoy on a drive down the coast, or a pick-me-up for tough times, Liquid Gold is yet another solid Flaxxies track for the playlist. Video to be released next week.
Fast becoming one of Aotearoa’s most in-demand young live acts, the old high school mates, Eric Goodger (lead guitar), Nick Tait (rhythm guitar), Chris Manning (bass/trumpet), and Benji Humphries (lead singer) alongside Neo Lee (drums) are currently enjoying a reputation for always bringing their infectious fun-filled energy to every show, and accumulating a solid live following wherever they perform.
Flaxxies are proving to be a hot summer favourite with their infectious music evoking a sense of youthful freedom and adventure. Reminiscent of a classic summer road-trip, the boys can’t wait to bring their sun-drenched fusion of reggae, blues and rock to the party for an adrenalising good time.
Round up your mates and book your tickets now to make sure you catch them perform live – the energy they bring to a show makes Flaxxies a must-see this summer!
