Students at Massey University's satellite campus in Wellington are to establish their own radio station in the capital.

Programme Director Claire Medcalf says the station will be non-commercial, with heavy NZ music content, staffed by students.

"We plan to launch on the first day of the next semester, and will be in it for the long haul. We're aiming to maintain a minimum 60% New Zealand music quota, focusing on promoting local musicians to the max."
