Musical Sound Journey - with Matt Reece and John Goudge

06 June 2024 - 0 Comments

In 2019 Auckland musicians Matt Reece and John Goudge, inspired by world-fusion music, embarked on a sound journey of their own. Unfortunately Covid19 got in the way of their performance plans. Now, some five years later, the duo is finally bringing their sweet tunes and sonic landscapes to your ears.

What to expect:

Welcome to Rimu Glade Studio – John’s creative space in the tranquil bush of the Waitakere Ranges. Here you are invited to get comfortable and stretch out with your ears. Later, if you choose, you might want to move, or dance in your own way.

You’ll hear a mixture ambient music, song, chill-out beats, soundscapes and energizing dances.

It’s long been known that music can induce a state of relaxation good for stress relief and health.  What better way to celebrate the winter solstice and the coming of summer?

This is an intimate event where ticket numbers are limited. Booking is essential.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to get parked and comfortable. The event starts at 3pm. There are parking spaces on the driveway for most of you. Bring whatever refreshments you would like. Complimentary tea and coffee will be available.

The programme:

1.  Opening:  Matt and John welcome you all with a musical opening, with an invitation to relax and engage your imagination.

2.  The Elements:  A 50 minute audible journey through air, earth, water, fire, and ether.  Matt and John have crafted a landscape of sound, encompassing our planet and beyond.  It features indigenous instruments, sound effects, ambient dreamscapes, and delicious beats.

3.  Wind and Song:  An exponent of ethnic wind instruments from around the world, Matt Reece gives a taste of the soulful tones and melodies of these musical treasures.  John Goudge, a singer-songwriter, brings his voice and trusty guitar to the fore with ballads inspired by the forces of nature.

4.  You Can Dance if You Want To:  Time to break out more organic beats and grooves.  Matt and John let their hair down with luscious original dance tunes merging synthesizers with world flavours. Feel free to dance or relax, your choice.
