This August, psychedelic exponents Makeshift Parachutes bring their impeccable live show to 6 venues across the North Island. The tour is to promote their forthcoming single Kool-aid, set to be released on September 1st 2024. The new track was laid down back in May at The Lab studio with producer/engineer Jol Mulholland. Alongside Kool-aid, the band has recorded 4 more tracks that are scheduled for release later this year.
Formed in 2012, Makeshift Parachutes relocated from Austin, Texas to Aotearoa in 2015 where they have honed their sound and built their audience. Their back catalogue boasts a slew of stand out singles and their epic debut album, The Daily Absurd (released 2019).
Alongside original members Chris McCollum (guitar, vocals) Daniel O'Connor (bass, vocals) and Sharif O'Connor (guitar, synth, vocals) the band introduces its most recent addition, drummer Thomas Friggens (Sea Mouse, Sheeps).
Audience favourites at Auckland's Cross Street and AUM festival’s, Makeshift Parachutes deliver a mind-blowing show filled with cosmic riffage, hypnotically heavy grooves and dimension-ripping dance moves.
