New Zealand’s progressive bluegrass supergroup, You, Me, Everybody, are pleased to announce they’ll play three intimate shows throughout the North Island in the second half of 2024.
Following on from a busy 2023 that saw them feature in Netflix series, Sweet Tooth and then tour the east coast of Australia, 2024 has been just as busy, albeit behind the scenes. “2023 was amazing; Sweet Tooth gave us a great International boost to our audience and we learnt that Australia has an appreciative and growing audience for our sound”. If you’ve noticed that the band have been quiet lately, their family and neighbours would disagree. “We’ve been working hard, writing and arranging a new album that we’re looking to record next year. We live 11 hours apart at the longest distance so our time together is frequent, short and incredibly busy”. The three show series allows the work to continue but brings the band back out to the public eye. “We want to share a handful of the new songs, get back out to playing for people and raise some funds for the new album”.
Audiences can expect the setlist to include tracks from their EP and Southern Sky along with the new songs that are being debuted. “We’re excited about what we’ve been making. All of the usual elements are there; dynamic builds, great harmonies and lightning instrumentals”.
You, Me, Everybody (Aotearoa Music Awards Best Folk Artist Finalist for 2021), have gained national recognition for pushing boundaries to create their own form of New Zealand’s progressive bluegrass. Their music challenges the usual rhythms and chord patterns of traditional bluegrass to create songs that feature more complex and nuanced emotional subjects such as alienation and isolation, in addition to the staples of whiskey, love and loss.
