New Zealand pop rock band The After have been working in the studio developing new material and will launch their next single Mesmerised this coming 8 August, prior to the band’s return tour to Asia.
The After are about to embark on a month-long, six country Asia Pacific Tour in August and September 2024, with shows to audiences across The Philippines, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand.
This tour features a new line-up, with the band now fronted by Ruby Fraser on lead vocals as well as lead guitar duties. Ruby is a dynamic performer and an extraordinary musician, now based in Melbourne Australia. The After is also joined for the first time by Wellington based guitarist, Tane Butler.
Mesmerised was written by Andrew Featherstone and produced by Andrew Featherstone and Steve James. The single was recorded in New Zealand at Gareth’s Gazmania Studios with post-production and additional tracks at Andrew’s The Manor. Further tracking was completed in Brisbane, Australia with Steve James at Red Engine Studios.
The single was mixed by Grammy nominated, ARIA winning UK Producer Steve James (Monty Python, Sex Pistols, The Rutles, Paul Young, The Screaming Jets and many more) at Red Engine Studios, Brisbane, and mastered by Leon Zervos at Studios 301 Sydney (AC/DC, Muse, Santana, Aerosmith, Deep Purple, Rhianna, Pink, INXS, Crowded House, Maroon 5, Alanis Morrissette, DuranDuran, Christine Aguilera, Fall Out Boy, most major Australian artists and many more).
The After’s music is released globally through Universal Music Group and is available on all digital platforms.
The 2024 Asia Pacific Tour will start in Manila, Philippines in August 2024, with a series of shows in the National Capital Region and surrounding areas.
Last year’s 2023 APAC Tour included a short visit to Japan, with 3 Tokyo shows in 3 days. The band used the time between shows in Tokyo to film the music video for the previous single Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way. The single, along with a live performance English version of Filipino band Dilaw’s hit song Uhaw, went on to reach a combined 1 million platform views.
This year’s tour will extend to 7 shows in Japan, covering Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. The band are returning to Singapore for 3 shows, and will also perform two shows in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Following the Asia leg of the tour, The After will make their Australian debut with shows in Melbourne and Brisbane, before returning to New Zealand to perform two final shows, in Auckland and Wellington.
