Pōneke based OdESSA will release their new track Ancient Ruins on Thursday 5th September. The track breaks from their usual high energy grooves and brings the listener to a moodier, more lyrically focused song.
Ancient Ruins details a unique narrative from lead singer and lyricist Matthew Pender. He says the track is “primarily about reaching a stage of life where all the things that used to work for you don’t really work anymore”
OdESSA were joined on the recording by international performer and Latin-Grammy Award-winning artist Mireya Ramos on violin and backing vocals, as well as haunting lap-steel guitar by the song’s celebrated producer Lee Prebble.
To celebrate their release OdESSA are playing live at the Rogue and Vagabond on Thursday 5th September, and the following night at The New Zealand Blues and Groove Festival on Friday 6th September.
