Harper Finn has begun the reveal of his debut album with the dreamy new single Doves. If the first taste is anything to go by, 2025 promises to be a defining year for the NYC-based, New Zealand-born artist.
Doves follows on from his critically acclaimed 2022 EP Newcomer and reintroduces him by way of nostalgic melody and instantly recognisable guitar riffs.
"With Doves, I wanted to capture a sense of spontaneity, that feeling of approaching a relationship with reckless abandon," Harper explains. "It’s about finding those fleeting, beautiful moments in life when everything else feels uncertain."
Doves, as well as the rest of the record, was recorded on a 16-track tape machine in the idyllic setting of Woodstock. Working alongside acclaimed artist/producer Sam Evian (Big Thief, Cass McCombs, Shura), Harper has crafted a collection of songs reflecting the complexities of love, loss, and the relentless pursuit of dreams.
While the artistry of Newcomer remains intact, Doves signals a shift for Harper spurred on by a relocation to New York City. The city's fast-paced energy and ever-evolving social scene have provided him with endless inspiration.
