“We still believe in the power of music, of song-writing, in that sonic hand to hold through those dark nights of the soul”. - Please Give Blood
Please Give Blood channel strands of goth, punk and post-punk, with strange overtones of Television, Wire, Magazine and the rockier side of 80's New Wave.
Kay Blood says, "My Art Dorm is a wary song about pain and its gifts...
If we conform just to dissolve the pain. If we're in a society that tries to minimise the expression of pain or its impact, its rawness, the void and thereafter. If we're in a state of safe tepid existence where art is no longer darkly opaque because some jurisdiction of light shone over everything. They will shun you, if you open the door on them.
Get on with it, but it's a fatal infection. For who wants to give the pain away, sometimes it proves you're still surviving; but it's a fine line between martyrdom and my art dorm.
My Art Dorm follows Please Give Blood's singles Deep Brain Stimulation and Ambition, and it's the third single from their forthcoming debut album Songs for the Long Disaster.
Dee Blood has been in a number of Australian bands and art collectives, and Kay Blood the former lead singer and lyricist for 90's Christchurch band Mane.
