Major New Zealand dance music event The Gathering is no more, with parent company The Gathering Company Ltd having being placed into voluntary liquidation last week due to insurmountable financial problems encountered over the past couple of years.
The massive multi-zone New Year's event ran for six years, attracting up to 10,000 people at a time to the South Island's Golden Bay region for a few days of music-fuelled fun and festivities.
In a publicly published letter from The Gathering Company Ltd last week, main event organiser Murray Kingi took the opportunity to thank all the Gatherers, crew, service providers, friends and family that supported The Gathering throughout its six years of staging safe, high quality events.
