Jim Beam Homegrown returns to Wellington on March 5th with an incredible line-up and an amazing opportunity for an up and coming band to not only play the festival but also launch themselves into the New Zealand music scene via the Jim Beam Band Search.
The winning band will play the Homegrown Rock Stage alongside a line-up that includes; Blindspott, The Feelers, Midnight Youth, Elemeno-P and last year’s band search winner I Am Giant. They will also take away a massive $15,000 prize pack that includes $5,000 cash, a $5,000 video grant from NZ On Air, airplay of one of the band’s songs on The Rock plus flights, accommodation and all round rock star treatment at Jim Beam Homegrown.
Past winners; Luger Boa and I Am Giant have both gone on to achieve significant success. Luger Boa have gone from strength to strength with significant airplay and great touring opportunities and for I Am Giant the Jim Beam Band Search kicked off what was an incredibly successful 2010 with a lot more expected from them in 2011.
The Jim Beam band Search is open to any Kiwi rock band as long as they can play a 45 set of original songs. Registrations for the Band Search are open from January 17th to Feb 3rd with bands only needing to register and download their best track at www.therock.net.nz. On February 7th twenty bands will be selected to move on to a public voting stage that will take place until February 21st when the winning band will be announced.
