Music News - New New Zealand Hip Hop Site

07 January 2003 - 0 Comments

Aotearoa's first and only dedicated hip-hop magazine Back2Basics has launched its online incarnation at www.back2basics.co.nz, featuring highlights of the independently produced zine's two print issues to date and additional online-only content.

Those who missed out on the ultra limited Pioneer Issue and first proper issue of the printed A5 magazine can check out selected features and interviews from both mags at the new Back2Basics site, which includes sections dedicated to the art, dance, beats and words of homegrown hip-hop culture.

Featured hip-hoppers include the likes of Sir-Vere, DLT, Deceptikonz, Che Fu & The Krates, P-Money, Alphabethead, Kerb and Swerv1 and there's the promise of much more to come. There's an extensive photo gallery, links to leading hip-hop sites all over the internet and an assortment of locally-produced loops from which you can select your own soundtrack to the site.

Check out the extended online edition of Back2Basics at http://www.back2basics.co.nz, and keep an eye out for a new print issue of the excellent freebie magazine on the streets sometime soon.
