On July 1, 2011 world leading independent record label Epitaph Records will enter into a distribution deal with Warner Music Australia & New Zealand. Under this agreement Warner Music Australia & New Zealand will manufacture and distribute Epitaph’s catalogue in their respective territories.
“We are pleased to announce our agreement with Warner Music Australia & New Zealand,” says Epitaph Records General Manager, Dave Hansen. “Tony Harlow and the Warner Music team have made a great commitment to supporting us while respecting our independence, and love our music. We look forward to working with them on distributing our catalogue in Australia and New Zealand.”
Managing Director of Warner Music Australia, Tony Harlow adds, “It is a thrill to get to work with such a wonderful label. I have been an admirer for many years, and all of us at Warner Music are excited to be a part of a rich future of growth through great music."
Epitaph Records was formed in 1981 by Bad Religion guitarist and co-founder, Brett Gurewitz in Los Angeles, CA and is a world leader in the independent music industry. With over 60 million albums sold worldwide and a growing international roster of artists, this agreement comes as a natural progression in Epitaph’s commitment to providing worldwide distribution services. The new partnership will end a successful relationship with Australian distributor Shock Entertainment, who will continue to distribute Epitaph titles until the 1st of September, 2011. Dave Hansen recounts, “We have enjoyed a great partnership with Shock over the past 20 years and we wish them continued success”.
Epitaph continues to be vigorously, expertly and independently represented in Australia by Dave Jiannis, who will now work from the Warner office in Carlton Melbourne.
