Dunedin based band The Chills are pleased to announce they will be performing a one-off Auckland show Friday 29 July at The Kings Arms. Joining them on stage will be another seminal Dunedin band - The Puddle.
This show will follow The Chills founder Martin Phillipps' solo performance in support of the Hone Tuwhare Trust Thursday 7 July at The Classic Theatre.
Martin comments: "I am really getting lots of enjoyment out of my music at present and it will be great fun to have the 5 piece band we took to Australia last year on stage again.
Regarding the solo show supporting the idea of a writers residence around Hone's crib, Kaka Point is a wonderful environment and I am sure it will prove to be creatively stimulating for many people. I am proud to have been asked to participate in this benefit gig."
The Chills played 2 sold out shows to critical acclaim in Sydney and Melbourne last year and have had their music recognized in a number of ways recently including:
* Placement on a soon to be released MGMT curated compilation under the acclaimed Night Time Stories label.
* A cover version of Pink Frost placed in the Bondi Rescue TV Show.
* Pink Frost featuring in a new NZ TV show Nothing Trivial.
* US band The Black Lips recommending The Chills to their fan base
* A cover of Softbomb is soon to be released by US artist Jon DeRosa (Aarktica), This joins covers already completed by Holy Shit, The House Of Love, Brilliant Colours making Pink Frost cover video for their song Highly Evolved among others.
* Ukranian music Magazine Znaki featuring The Chills to their Russian readership worldwide.
