New Zealand music is to make its presence felt at the major European music industry trade fair - Midem - again this year, with another sizeable NZ Music Industry Commission led contingent in attendance at the event in Cannes, France this week.
Midem 2003 kicked off on Sunday 19 January and will continue until Thursday 23 January, with representatives from ten-odd NZ music companies including urban/electronic focussed record label LOOP Recordings Aot(ear)oa, classical music label Trust Records and Wellington group Ebb joining the NZMIC's Executive Director Cath Anderson at an unified New Zealand stand in the midst of the massive music trade show.
This year's New Zealand Midem contingent will be plugging their wares to an international music industry market made up of some 3,500 companies from 89 countries worldwide.
The NZMIC organised Aotearoa attendance is as part of a wider strategy in partnership with government trade development agency Trade New Zealand to increase export sales of New Zealand music.
A similar NZ contingent will attend the upcoming South by South West music trade fair in the United States, with nine New Zealand artist already invited to take part in the event's week long series of showcase gigs in mid-March.
