The final round of Launchpad is now down to a shortlist of three finalists. A panel of judges has met to listen to all of the entries and pick the best three.
Launchpad is a joint initiative between Space and Coke designed to help launch a New Zealand band. The winning artist or band will receive a video made for them, a guest live appearance on Space, help with publicity and promotion and a feature article in Rip It Up magazine.
The winner will be picked by public vote on the Space website http://www.spacenz.com
The three finalists are as follows.
The Bleeders - 'A Bleeding Heart'
The Bleeders may seem new to the scene but the band have been around for years in luminary bands in the punk/hardcore scene. So far, as The Bleeders, they have played support for Hot Water Music and Strung Out - they are currently recording their first EP in York Street Studios, Auckland.
Dejusa - '3/33 Humanize'
Their musical influences stem from sources far and wide - from epic bollywood movie scores to BBC news stories. The end result is a mix of electronica, live dub, drum & bass and jazz. This song has stayed in the bFM top ten for over 2 months and has been in the alternative top 30 for 16 weeks.
Minuit - 'Menace'
Minuit describe themselves as an electronic break-beat band while they have been described in Rip It Up Magazine as "high energy, highly danceable music that is different to anything else around". They also won Squeeze's 'People Choice Award For Best Song', plus feature on the compilations 'Transmisions Breaks' and 'Return Of The Boomshwack'.
To cast your vote go to http://www.spacenz.com/ - you can listen to the tracks and pick who you think should be the winner. Voting closes on Thursday 31 July with the winner announced live on Space on Friday 1st August.
