Triple A recording artist Thomas Coffey will premier his new single live on TV1’s Breakfast Show on Friday February 22nd, to mark the second anniversary of the major earthquake that claimed 185 lives.
The Christchurch born and bred songwriter wrote Tremendous Heart after his experience of living through both major earthquakes in the badly shaken city.
In a tribute to the victims and a celebration of the city’s resilience, TVNZ’s Breakfast is broadcasting live from Latimer Square. Thomas is stoked to be playing live on breakfast on Friday with his song.
“Tremendous Heart is a song about hope, which is something people here have had to hold onto through very frustrating and difficult times.”
The video for Tremendous Heart was shot on location in Christchurch in the Falsgrave tunnel near the damaged AMI Stadium. " I saw it and immediately thought of the light at the end of the tunnel"
Profits from the single, which is available through Amplifier http://www.amplifier.co.nz/release/95854/tremendous-heart-single.html?full=1 will be donated to Christchurch non-profit organisation MHAPS, which offers Mental Health Advocacy and Peer Support.
Coffey will also be a guest of MORE FM drive time show hosted by Lana Searle late Thursday afternoon.
On the Saturday, Coffey will again be the focal point for another fund raising effort on behalf of The Canterbury Earthquake Children’s Trust, which was set up to assist the 66 children who lost a parent in the February 22, 2011, earthquake.
The organisation is holding a “run to remember race”. At its conclusion a minute’s silence will be held at 12.51 to commemorate the time the earthquake struck. Coffey will then play Tremendous Heart to break the silence while 185 white balloons are released.
Tremendous Heart is the second single from the album Dominos, the debut album by Coffey and his band The Grinders; available through Triple A records and Border music.
