At this year’s Laneway Festival Japandroids blew everyone away with THE stand-out performance of the day.

The blistering rock ‘n’ roll duo from Vancouver smashed it (quite literally). They promised they'd be back and now we're thrilled to say they are!

“Raucous rock'n'roll duo Japandroids were clearly in their element on stage. Their brand of volatile, fly-off-the-handle rock physically shook the Cactus Cat stage and threatened to overpower their beleaguered amps.”
– Undertheradar.co.nz

“Top marks to the Canadian rockers who played their absolute hearts out. It was loud, it was crazy, they were sweaty, they were exhausted. And the drummer drummed so hard at the end of the last song that his entire kit fell over. They promised to return to NZ, and we hope they do.” – stuff.co.nz (Top 10 moments)

“Here's a two-piece band with that rare ability to whip up an ear-splitting racket that's also melodic and hellishly reckless and fun, all in one. Canadians Brian King (guitars/vocals) and David Prowse (drums/vocals) have a shouty, sing-along punk rock approach, combined with a raw sonic rock 'n' roll ferocity (one of their major influences are 60s Seattle garage rockers the Sonics); then there's an old-fashioned, down-home rock charm that creeps in too, similar to New York band the Hold Steady.” – New Zealand Herald

Japandroids formed in 2006 and consists of Brian King (guitars, vocals) and David Prowse (guitars, vocals). After self-releasing two EPs 2007s’ All Lies and 2008s’ Lullaby Death Jams, Japandroids released their acclaimed debut album debut album Post Nothing in 2009. The boys then toured extensively, playing over 200 shows in more than 20 countries whilst releasing a series of 7” singles throughout 2010 and a compilation of their EPs titled No Singles.

Their 2012 album Celebration Rock was listed as one of the best albums of 2012 on almost every music list.

Japandroids are one of the best live bands you'll see in 2013. Set to stun.

“The epic sing-alongs and constant flow of crowd-surfers was a lot of fun and suitably matched the rock and roll antics coming from King and drummer David Prowse, who played so hard throughout their last song that his drum kit ended up collapsing onto the stage floor.” - CoupDeMain
