iHeartRadio Launches in New Zealand

02 August 2013 - 1 Comment

The Radio Network (TRN) announced today the official launch of iHeartRadio beta, Clear Channel’s free, industry-leading, all-in-one digital radio service, in New Zealand.

iHeartRadio provides radio fans instant access to live broadcast and digital-only radio stations, user-created Custom Stations inspired by favourite artists and songs, plus mood-related stations “Perfect For” any activity. In addition, the service recently introduced “iHeartRadio Talk,” the first mass market focused audio platform to offer on-demand listener-created talk content side by side with established personalities, celebrities and shows. With more than 50,000 “audiosodes” that span more than 20 categories – from business and news to comedy, lifestyle and sports – listeners will enjoy customizable, on-demand content from top-rated talk and entertainment shows.

“We’re bringing radio into the digital age, offering music fans more options than any other service currently in the market. iHeartRadio has one of the largest music catalogues and is the only digital music service that combines custom and live radio,” said TRN’s CEO Jane Hastings.  “iHeartRadio delivers everything listeners want in one free, easy to use service and we look forward to extending our reach through the iHeartRadio platform.”

iHeartRadio is available beginning August 2 in an early version (beta) on the web at http://www.iheartradio.co.nz/, with expanded mobile and web functionality in September.

Functions include:

· Live streaming of radio stations from New Zealand (Clear Channel’s 850 live U.S. radio stations and Australia stations will also be available in September)

· The ability to build Custom Radio stations based on users favourite songs or artists

· Nearly 1,000 ‘Perfect For’ stations featuring music perfect for the user’s mood or activity

· iHeartRadio Talk, a newly launched feature offering on-demand listener-created talk content side by side with popular talk, business, news, celebrity, comedy, sports and entertainment episodes from established personalities and shows.

iHeartRadio reached 20 million registered users faster than any digital service in internet history.  It continues to be the No. 1 all-in-one digital service in the U.S. with nearly 210 million downloads of the iHeartRadio mobile app and more than 60 million monthly unique users across its network. With a library of more than 16 million songs and 400,000 artists, iHeartRadio’s Custom Station feature offers listeners more music than any other service available.  iHeartRadio will continue to evolve with new functions and content being regularly released to New Zealand users.

iHeartRadio has become famous for its music festivals and this year is no exception with a star-studded event being held in Las Vegas.  Visit http://festival.iheart.com/ for more information.
