On Friday August 30, Maree Sheehan will release her new single, How Do I Say Goodbye. The song is featured on Maree's latest album, Chasing The Light, and is being released in support of Daffodil Day on August 30 - with all artist royalties from the single going to the Cancer Society of New Zealand.
How Do I Say Goodbye is a deeply personal song recorded earlier this year, which expresses the undeniable struggle of heartache and confusion that cancer inflicts on humankind.
"Maree has used her artistic and creative talent to write a song that will touch thousands of New Zealanders. So many of us have lost someone to cancer and the song tells the story of what it's like to lose someone. We are grateful to Maree for sharing the song with us," says Chief Executive of the Cancer Society, Dalton Kelly.
"What I found when going through this experience with a very close friend who passed away two years ago, is that cancer affects so many people and it is so deeply sad for partners, whanau, and friends that are left to cope and survive the loss," says Maree Sheehan.
"I have chosen to give all of my artist royalties from this song to the Cancer Society of New Zealand, which was there to help support my friend and her whanau and which helps so many New Zealand families going through this. This song will be released by Warner Music New Zealand."
How Do I Say Goodbye will be serviced to radio on Monday August 26, and available to pre-order from iTunes at the same time. The song will then be available to buy from iTunes from August 30 for Daffodil Day and will support the Cancer Society of New Zealand.
