With just over 100 days until the 10th Rippon Festival in Wanaka this summer, the Lake Wanaka SouNZ Incorporated committee is delighted to receive notice of funding through the Queenstown Lakes District Council Event Funding Scheme.
Just under $10 000 has been granted to assist towards event and recycling initiatives for the festival, including the crowd barrier, and a purpose-built recycling station which can be used at other community events in the local region.
Recycling Manager, Sally Norman says, “it’s fantastic to see the festival recognised in this way, and we can’t wait to start constructing the community recycling station”. Ms Norman adds the unit will be built by local master recycler, Peter Akass, and is specifically designed for large events aiming to minimise waste.
With the 2014 line up featuring (among others)
The Phoenix Foundation,
Electric Wire Hustle,
Home Brew,
Die! Die! Die!,
Ladi6, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Some Other Planets, and
Kody Nielson, organisers have also announced three additions to the line up.
Wellingtonian producer-musician
Estere will showcase her funky nu-soul/electro set,
Thomas Oliver will play his Weissenborn in the Hall, and
Anika Moa will step up to co-MC the 2014 event, with P Digsss (
Shapeshifter) and KPz (
