The international line-up for October's 2003 Aotearoa Hip Hop Summit has been announced, the VIP guests to include DJ Jazzy Jeff and UK outfit The Mixologists.
The Summit will be held in Auckland on October 10 and 11, with a varied schedule of activities running throughout the Aotea Centre, Auckland Town Hall and Aotea Square, showcasing international and national hip hop artists.
DJ Jazzy Jeff will be remembered by many as a sidekick of Will Smith, however he is also a well-respected 'stylus demolition' exponent with a worldwide following in his own right. And apparently he is widely regarded as the inventor of both the 'transformer' and ‘chirp’ scratches - which is certainly one to tell the grandkids in later life. In his first trip to Aotearoa he will perform at the Summit alongside his MCs from A Touch of Jazz, Pauly Yamz and V.
The Mixologists (aka DJ Go and Beni G) are equally internationally renowned for their feats in the European and World ITF Champs and their innovative and eclectic DJ style (spinning hip hop, breakbeat and drum n bass). Their appearance is presented by the British Council New Zealand.
