Auckland trio, Midnight Gallery will release their debut, self-titled album, Midnight Gallery on Friday, July 18.
With Adam Fuhr on production, Edgar Mahon on raps and Tyla Pere on vocals, the group combine jazz inspired beats with live instrumentation rather than using samples, setting them apart from their musical contemporaries.
Their album, which was recorded at home in the band's Kingsland flat, was mixed in various parts of the world including Istanbul by Mike Nielsen, New York by Lance Powell, and Auckland by Tom Anderson and Ben Lawson at the Red Bull Studio in Grey Lynn. The final product was mastered in Istanbul, Turkey by Mike Nielsen.
Midnight Gallery explores a variety of topics ranging from love, to everyday life, to the unaffordability of housing prices. The album features the group's current single, Pillow To Pillow which was released earlier this year and is available now on iTunes http://bit.ly/1ielwYE, as well as their earlier single, Scars http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7i5mybzDSY.
The band have partnered with a number of talented Kiwi artists who have created a piece of art to represent each track on the album. Artists including Component (Cut Collective), Paul Walsh, Tyrone Layne, Erica Pearce are among the artists that have come on board. The project and all art pieces will be on display, as the group host their own art exhibition to celebrate the release of the album. More details of this event will be announced soon.
