iHeartRadio has launched the ‘Official NZ Top 40 Weekly Chart’. The chart will be updated every Friday evening and is 100% free via the iHeartRadio app and website.
“It all came about when the team was reminiscing about watching the weekly Top 40 chart on TV every Sunday morning,” says Carolyn Luey, Group GM Product & Digital at The Radio Network.
“Recorded Music NZ currently releases the Official NZ Top 40 Chart every Friday on their website. The chart represents New Zealanders broad tastes in all music genres, and it is this list that iHeartRadio will stream and update every week”.
“The Official NZ Top 40 is a reliable ranking of the most popular music, based on digital and physical single sales authorised by Recorded Music New Zealand” says Luey. “We are excited to offer this service on iHeartRadio. Music fans of all ages can keep up to date with the latest music trends at their convenience through the iHeartRadio app or on their computer – wherever and whenever they want – and best of all it is free”.
“The Official Top 40 is the definitive list of the most popular music consumed by kiwis each week. We are incredibly excited to be partnering with iHeartRadio to produce a classic chart show format via such a modern streaming platform” says Damian Vaughan, CEO of Recorded Music NZ.
iHeartRadio is home to 18 million songs, 450,000 artists, and 1500 stations. It is this instant access to an enormous catalogue of music and content that has seen iHeartRadio grow in popularity so quickly in the New Zealand market. iHeartRadio is known for its concerts including the free Lorde concert in September 2013, and most recently the Ed Sheeran concert which was on the 30th April this year.
