Three heats in to the Ding Dong Lounge Bands Competition and we've seen and heard a tonne of amazing bands. Over the weekend four bands were selected to go through to the semi finals in July after competing on Friday and Saturday night.
Industrial synth punk duo Lichtbeuger and 4 piece rock act Bad State took out heat two with rock acts Thin White Lines & Eburnine chosen from heat three. "They're a pretty good representation of our rock scene" says event organiser Andrew Treeby. "The competition has literally been a blast."
This Friday night Black Alpine, Kingdoms, The Brightly Coloured Cocks, Masses & Streetlight Riot play the final heat in the upstairs bar at Ding Dong Lounge.
A further two bands will join Brendon Thomas & The Vibes, Shards Of Sky, Lichtbeuger, Bad State, Thin White Lines and Eburnine at the Semi Finals over the weekend of 11 & 12 July.
The finals take place on Saturday 19 July with the winners receiving studio time at Depot Sound Recording Studio with Tui award winning engineer Dave Rhodes, promotion through Phantom Billstickers & The Fold and cash prizes. Also up for grabs to all bands entering is a Jim Beam electric acoustic guitar and free practice space sessions at Creative House in Parnell.
Each competition night is open to the public with a $10 entry fee and is strictly R18.
