Hamilton reggae act Katchafire have become the seventh local artist this year to notch up a platinum album (joining the ranks of Scribe, Salmonella Dub, Hayley Westenra, Elemeno P, Nesian Mystik and Blindspott).
"Katchafire is a great grassroots, heartland success story," says NZ On Air Music Manager Brendan Smyth.
"It's also an NZ On Air Phase Four success story. We put Phase Four funding into the Revival album project and we've got four excellent radio hits off the record so far which is what we were after.
"But this platinum milestone shows that Katchafire is more than a radio success story. New Zealanders have taken to this band in their thousands."
'Revival' has just been re-released in time for Christmas with a limited edition bonus disc featuring three remixes 'in a dub style' by Joost Langveld (Subware) and DJ Roger Perry, Chris Macro (Dubious Bros) and Maui Usher and Jah Remnant (12 Tribes Of Israel).
Katchafire are currently on tour in Western Australia but return at the end of the month to play at the Grey Lynn Festival in Auckland on November 22 and continue their nationwide touring over the summer.
