Yesterday's stars join NZ Idol

22 December 2003 - 0 Comments

Former Split Enz member Eddie Rayner and Suzanne Lynch, one half of the 60's duo The Chicks, are the latest names added to the team for the television talent quest show NZ Idol.

TVNZ, which will broadcast the show on TV2, said in statement today Rayner will act as musical director while Lynch will act as the vocal coach for the contestants.

Former pop stars Ray Columbus and Fiona McDonald, and ex-Sony Music boss Paul Ellis are rumoured to be strong contenders for the Idol judging panel.

Former Space presenter Dominic Bowden, will host NZ Idol, which will follow the format of the very successful overseas television shows.

Although the show wont start until early February next year, NZ fans can get their fill with the premiere of the first 'World Idol', which will include winners of Idol shows from five continents. American winner Kelly Clarkson and Aussie champ Guy Sebastian are among those in the competition.

Elton John has confirmed he will perform on an early results episode.

'World Idol' is to be screened on TV2 on December 28.
