MARK NOVEMBER 20 IN THE DIARY
Dates announced for 49thannual Vodafone NZ Music Awards
The dates for the 49th annual Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards have been announced with the lead up to the country’s biggest night in music kicking off in just a few weeks’ time.
For the first time ever the show is being broadcast live on channel FOUR meaning music fans all over the country can watch all the action including performances by some of our biggest music talent in real time and from their living rooms.
The 2014 programme officially kicks off in October with the finalists’ announcement event on October 16 and the Critics’ Choice Prize showcase event on October 29.
Then in November the focus shifts to the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards themselves with New Zealand’s biggest night in music taking place on Thursday November 20.
The Awards are again being staged at Auckland’s Vector Arena.
Chief executive of Recorded Music NZ Damian Vaughan says the aim for 2014 is to put on a show that exceeds any that have gone before.
“The 2013 Awards were our biggest and best yet so we’re thrilled to be presenting the 49th annual Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards,” says Vaughan. “The Recorded Music NZ team always looks forward to the VNZMAs as the ultimate celebration of all our incredibly successful and talented artists.
“There have been a number of phenomenal releases across all genres this year and we’ve seen several talented Kiwi artists topping the charts both here and abroad. We’re looking forward to unveiling the finalists – and from what I’ve seen they truly represent the full spectrum of musical talent here in New Zealand.”
