Hip-hop funk soul outfit Kong Fooey received a massive response from their 2013 Loop released single Let Go, amassing over 6,000 plays on Soundcloud.
September 29th sees the independent release of their brand new single Be Like Water, a hard-hitting groove with a mean bass line, frenetic funk guitar riff and a powerful message inspired by spirited martial arts legend, Bruce Lee.
Be Like Water features long time friend and collaborator MC Maitreya, spitting out his tight and punctuated flows and the yin to Maitreya’s yang is supplied by the crystalline soulful tones of singer Katerina Theo. The main inspiration behind this track comes from a profound sound bite from none other than the late Kung Fu master Bruce Lee, his advice to us all is to go with the flow, adapt to life’s challenges and "be water my friend.”
Kong Fooey recently performed a crowd-pleasing show at the Leigh Sawmill with The Nomad (aka Daimon Schwalger) and the band plans another Leigh Sawmill show on November 8th with special guest Aaron Tokona (AHoriBuzz).
