The War On Drugs Second Show Announced

07 October 2014 - 0 Comments

STOP PRESS – THE WAR ON DRUGS HAVE NOW ADDED A SECOND NIGHT AT THE POWERSTATION
ON FRIDAY DECEMBER 19TH AFTER AN INSTANT FIRST NIGHT SELL-OUT

NEW TICKETS ONSALE > FRIDAY OCTOBER 10TH > FROM TICKETMASTER  >  DETAILS BELOW.

THE WAR ON DRUGS are the alt rock band of the year. Their new album Lost in The Dream was released in March and has been widely hailed as a masterpiece. It is without doubt one of the albums of 2014 and a future classic rock record for each and every year from now. Yes, that good.

THE WAR ON DRUGS are a band whose unquestionable musical power, meticulous songcraft, artistry, authenticity, integrity and quality have them organically perched at the tipping point into arena sized magic and festival headlining greatness. The War On Drugs arrive in New Zealand with immaculate timing.

The band has received across the board critical acclaim for their third album Lost In The Dream. The last few years since the release of the 2011 breakthrough Slave Ambient has seen The War On Drugs clocking up thousands of global road and air miles that have paved the way for this moment in time as the consummate Philadelphia based four-piece morph into the hottest indie rock proposition on the planet.

THE WAR ON DRUGS play for the first time in NZ at The Powerstation, Auckland on Thurs Dec 18 (sold out) and FRI DEC 19. Immediate ticket purchase is strongly advised to avoid disappointment.

“The album is loaded with songs whose greatness is revealed slowly, where the simplest, most understated chord change can blow a track wide open and elevate it from simply pretty to absolutely devastating.” Pitchfork

“Only a few artists are gifted enough to write hair-raising, fists-in-the-air, pedal-to-the-floor rock 'n' roll anthems: U2, Bruce Springsteen and Arcade Fire are proven pros, but maybe The War on Drugs' Adam Granduciel should be added to that class too.” NPR Music

To those of you out there who crave immediate, wistful pop music that will make you smile about the future and make you cry about the past, you won’t find a better album this decade. OMH 10/10

THE WAR ON DRUGS are a real rock n roll band, a heart and soul band, exactly the kind of the band we need, exactly the kind of band we want.

This will be your first and last chance to see them in an intimate club environment.

For now they’re yours, next year they’ll be everyone’s. A very special band, a very special show.
