THE WINERY TOUR 2015

FEATURING

DAVE DOBBYN & DON MCGLASHAN: TOGETHER IN CONCERT

SUPERGROOVE

ANIKA MOA

Civic Events, promoter of the annual Winery Tour, is proud to announce the tour dates and line up for the 2015 run of the famous summer tour.

Headliners are two New Zealand music icons, Dave Dobbyn & Don McGlashan, performing together, joined by the legendary Supergroove and the Queen of the Winery Tour, Anika Moa.

Now in its 9th year, the Winery Tour has been streamlined. The 2015 Tour will play nine shows in nine wineries around New Zealand between late January and the start of March, with all shows played on a Friday or Saturday or the day immediately prior to a public holiday. It's one of the best line-ups, in the best winery venues, on the best days for enjoying a night out for fans. A full list of dates and venues is set out below.

It’s hard to explain or do justice to the importance and the influence of Dave Dobbyn and Don McGlashan in the canon of New Zealand music and culture, or to describe the esteem in which they are held by all Kiwis. They are supreme songwriters who have chronicled what it is to be a New Zealander. Over more than 30 years they have told the stories of our lives. Between them they have won five prestigious APRA Silver Scroll awards for Song of the Year. They have multiple hit albums between their solo releases, Th’ Dudes, The Front Lawn, DD Smash, Blam Blam Blam and The Mutton Birds. Backed by a crack band, expect this to be one of the most memorable sets in the history of the Winery Tour. And expect the hits – that’s if they can fit them all into a ninety-minute show.

Filling the middle slot are Winery Tour first timers, the legendary Supergroove. Formidable live performers, and featuring the mighty Che Fu, this eager band of young ruffians rewrote NZ music history with their debut album Traction – a trillion times platinum and spawning the hits Gotta Know, Scorpio Girls, You Freak Me, Sitting Inside My Head and Can’t Get Enough – and their incendiary live shows. They may not be swinging from the lighting trusses any longer, but Supergroove continues to be, quite simply, a musical force of nature.

Completing the three-artist line up is the official Queen of the Winery Tour Anika Moa. No artist better personifies what this Tour is about than this national treasure. She’s irreverent, relaxed, mostly barefoot, heart-warming and heart wrenching (often at the same time), supremely talented and endlessly entertaining. And she loves coming on the road with this tour. Anika Moa is the musical equivalent of a sneaky extra bottle of a favourite, multi-award winning, cheeky rose.

Dave and Don can’t wait to start the tour on 24 January.

Dave Dobbyn says "I'm so looking forward to playing the 2015 Winery Tour! Great line up! Don, our band and I have a great chemistry after performing together here, in Oz & in the UK. It'll be such a pleasure to play in idyllic surroundings with relaxed summer audiences. Let's rock together.”

“Dave and I duetted around the country last year on the Acoustic Church Tour, and then had a blast taking that tour to Australia and the UK. We’ve discovered that we love working together, so co-headlining Winery 2015 is a dream come true. We’ll get to carry on challenging each other and celebrating each other’s songs, but we’ll also get to plug in, turn the amps up and shout “How are you feeling, New Plymouth!” (Especially when we’re actually in New Plymouth). I can’t wait” said Don.

Che Fu says hitting the road with Supergroove on the Winery Tour is a fantastic way to spend a Kiwi summer.

"This summer is gonna be leeeegend. So lookin’ forward to rockin’ stages with my SG broski's and of course with Anika, Don, and Yoda (Dave to everyone else). Yeee haaaaa!"

Anika Moa knows no better way to spend a February in New Zealand.

"I've been a part of the winery tour for the last 7 years. I've fallen in love, out of love, sung with all my might, drunk some of the finest wines, played with some of Aotearoa’s best musos and then some. It feels good to be back to sing and laugh with my kind of audience! It's also a good chance to play some of the new songs off my very new album set to be released in the New Year. Look out people. I'm back!"

Co-promoter Campbell Smith is looking forward to next year’s tour and promises concertgoers a unique and unforgettable experience:

”This tour is about great NZ music, great NZ wine and food, stunning locations and the warm and balmy nights of summer. It’s all about feeling good with friends and family, kicking off your shoes, having a wine or two, a dance and singing along. And for the 2015 Winery Tour we believe that we have one of the greatest line-ups of talent we have ever put together, to play in the best wineries in the country.

We have re-tooled the tour for 2015, focusing on fewer wineries and scheduling our shows on the best days of each week of the tour. We are sad to be not returning in 2015 to some tour spots that have hosted great shows in the past, but we hope that our fans from those places will find the closest Winery Tour show to them, buy tickets, pack their bags, book a motel or hit up friends for the couch and make a weekend away of it.

We are really excited to stage the first Winery Tour show at Mills Reef Winery in Tauranga, the only new venue on this run. The tour has enjoyed many memorable years at Wharepai Domain, but when the chance came to move to a stunning winery environment nearby, a venue that has its own great history of live shows, we had to take it.”

With nine shows on offer across nine spectacular outdoor venues, The Winery Tour is the best tour in New Zealand. The 2015 Tour will visit the following regions - NORTH ISLAND: Tauranga, Auckland, Matakana, Havelock North, Martinborough, Hamilton & New Plymouth; SOUTH ISLAND: Upper Moutere (Nelson) & Waipara (Christchurch).

Tickets (and bus/ticket packages) go on sale on Tuesday 28th October at an Early Bird price of $69 plus booking fee (ticket only). The Early Bird price will end on 30th November, the ticket price will then increase to $79 plus booking fee (ticket only) from 1st December.  Tickets can be purchased via the Winery Tour website http://www.winerytour.co.nz/ and Ticketmaster 0800 111 999 or http://www.ticketmaster.co.nz/.
