It's confirmed! Fresh from her jaw-dropping headlining performance at WOMAD UK, Sinead O’Connor will be exclusively joining 28 top-class music acts from around the world at WOMAD NZ March 13-15, 2015
Among those joining her are Bombino from Niger whose breakthrough
album was produced by multi Grammy winner, Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys.
Voted by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the Top 20 Guitarists of All Time
British folk legend Richard Thompson Electric Trio is set to astonish us all with
his celebrated songs and guitar playing.
Joining this exquisite combination of talent, are revered artists Rufus Wainwright and Youssou N’Dour- suggesting that festival go-ers
should prepare themselves for one of the best WOMADs ever!
Set in the stunning 55-acre Brooklands Park and TSB Bowl of Brooklands,
WOMAD NZ, has gained a reputation as one of the most beautiful outdoor
festivals in the world. Located a short walk from New Plymouth’s centre if you
book early you could even get a motel or hotel within walking distance.
The main stage is set at the base of a natural amphitheatre and not only
provides a stunning setting, but an acoustic experience second to none. The
other stages are located throughout Brooklands Park, with every square inch
oozing the vibrancy of WOMAD, including the Global Village’s food and art and
craft stalls and workshop spaces. Even the Brooklands Zoo plays a part in
hosting the colourful Kidzone area.
The maximum capacity for WOMAD is 12,500 ticket holders per day so you’ll
never feel like you are in a mosh pit – in fact bring a blanket and chill
out for a bit in the new Pinetum Chill Zone and soak up the warmth of the WOMAD
vibe.
