Golden Flame is the second official single (not including radio singles A Little More and Gravediggers Union) taken from the bands late-2013 album Absolute Domain. The album was mixed by UK-born freelance engineer Nick Poortman most recently having worked with Shihad. The first EP/Single from the album, Broken Record Syndrome was released late 2012.
"Punk energy, rocking Americana"- Elsewhere
"The songs about breaking free from the grinding wheel of the evil slave masters to find a place in the sun, and have a few beers'. says singer/songwriter/guitarist Alec Withers
The EP itself brings to an end a long album cycle in which recording started in 2011 with Withers and drummer Andrew Gladstone (ex-Garageland).
Along with the title track, Golden Flame also includes a radio edit of Use Once Then Repeat as well as a brand new recording titled Western Hills produced by Nick blow (Jakob, Golden Curtain) at SLP Productions, Napier. Mastering of the EP is shared between Brett Stanton (The Phoenix Foundation) & Ben Edwards (The Eastern).
"Glimmers of country twang thread effortlessly between rockabilly throwdowns, murder ballads, classic rock oeuvres, and a ton of bluesy grit" - Stack
"This'll be the last thing we do that relates to Absolute Domain, after a bunch shows over summer we'll be back into laying down demos and working towards the next release. Working with Nick Blow gave us a good idea of how we want to tackle the next recording, more live tracking and obviously done in a much shorter time frame. says Withers
Golden Flame EP is out now on iTunes, and for a limited time as a FREE Download at the bands bandcamp page: http://www.devilselbowofficial.bandcamp.com/ CD copies also available.
"Gritty southern garage rock, spliced with country soul and spirit, with a dash of pop sensibility over thick, juicy and honest tones" - NZ Musician
Absolute Domain is available in all good record stores and worldwide online the internets.
