It’s a summer of big news and big changes for
I Am Giant who today announce the departure of lead singer Ed Martin and the
addition of Ryan Redman to the line-up.
Ed has been part of the band for the last six years and has decided that the
time is right to pursue a solo career, “My time with I Am Giant has been
incredible, we’ve recorded two amazing albums I'm proud of, and played the most
epic shows in Europe and NZ, and I’m excited for their future. But the
time was right for me to go it alone and I'm excited about my future too.”
While the band is sad to lose Ed and wish him all the best for his solo career,
they’re excited to announce Ryan Redman as I Am Giant’s new lead singer.
Hailing from the UK and the critically acclaimed Alt. rock band Exit Ten, Ryan
will join I Am Giant on their summer tour with Shihad, The Datsuns, and Cairo
Knife Fight. It will be Ryan’s first visit to New Zealand, something he’s
really looking forward to.
“I'm really stoked to be joining such an amazing band, and it's incredible to
be playing my first shows with them in New Zealand! I've been a fan of the band
for years, and now I'm keen to make my mark on I Am Giant's future. The
support for the band has been massive and I can't wait to meet all the Kiwi
fans!”
Ryan’s first song with I Am Giant Russian Doll will be available as a free
download for a limited time from Soundcloud.
Paul Matthews, I Am Giant producer, songwriter and bassist states, “Ed is
family, we all know what an amazing singer he is and I’m looking forward to
producing and recording his debut solo album. I’m equally excited about working
with Ryan in I Am Giant. He’s a real talent who’s well known and respected in
the UK rock scene and we can’t wait to introduce him to our Kiwi fans on the
Shihad summer tour so you guys can show him what we’re all about. It's going to
be a huge tour and an epic summer”
