Auckland synth-pop
artist Little Bark has unveiled her new single Crystal Ball off her recent album USB.
Crystal Ball is Little
Bark's ode to the famous crystal ball scene from the 1980s
movie Labyrinth,
and is the closing track of her critically acclaimed sophomore album.
Released last year, USB, was
co-produced with long-term collaborator Stef Animal (The Golden Awesome,
Mestar). Laid out like a film soundtrack, it is filled with synth pop
tracks interspersed with melodic instrumentals.
Alongside Crystal
Ball, Little
Bark has also announced her first show of the year - playing as
part of Eclecta-Fest at Whammy Bar on March 21. Curated
by Auckland band Thee
Rum Coves, the show includes the likes of Bespin, Heavy, Rackets plus more,
and will feature her new two-piece line up. Tickets and more details at
Undertheradar.
LITTLE BARK - USB AVAILABLE ON 12" LP, CD + DIGITALLY THROUGH FLYING OUT
“It's a timeless piece of work that echoes the kind of grand,
emotive, electronic statement M83 and Fever Ray proposed, though it's brasher
than both.”NZ Herald, 4.5 Stars.
“a rousing array of space
age synths and catapulting electronics that collide to create a
quasi-futuristic, instrumental dreamscape” – Chartshaker
“It’s a strong set of songs
with the occasional Vangelis – style instrumental which gives the album depth
and a long shelf life” - Dominion Post, 4 Stars
