MICHAEL FRANTI & SPEARHEAD NZ TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT:
CANCELLATION OF THEIR
CHRISTCHURCH SHOW; SUPPORTS FOR WELLINGTON AND AUCKLAND
Firstly, we are sad to announce the cancellation of Michael Franti & Spearhead’s performance in Christchurch at the Bedford on March 26th, due to unresolved production issues. Michael and Bluesfest Touring are committed to presenting Michael’s show at the professional level his fans rightly expect, and will plan to return at a later date in the near future.
Michael has this message for his Christchurch fans: "I am so disappointed and apologize to all our fans there who were looking forward to a great night as much as I have been. We look forward to returning as soon aspossible. Everyone involved worked hard to make it happen. We will still be playing in Wellington and Auckland so if you feel like following awild impulse and flying up, we’d love to see you there!”

On a happier notehowever, Bluesfest Touring are thrilled to confirm the support artists for Michael’s Wellington and Auckland concerts.
Joining Michael and Spearhead at Shed 6 in Wellington on Friday 27th March, is soulful singer-songwriter Louis Baker. With an astute eye for lyrical detail, a rich vocal tone that harks back to classic Motown-era soul and a direct and expressive guitar style, Wellington-based Louis Baker is one of the most promising new talents to emerge from New Zealand in recent years. Expect an engaging and heartfelt performance from this outstanding artist.
Then Michael’s Powerstation show in Auckland on Sunday 28th March welcomes gorgeous soul songstress Tyra Hammond. The former singer of R&B funk and reggae collective, Opensouls, Tyra has just released her new self-titled solo EP. Tyra will bring her renowned powerful performance to the show, made up of beautiful vocals, swinging beats, jazzyfunk and soul, mixed with a dash of blues and a twist of old-school breaks.
There are some great live artists in the world, whose performances really stamp themselves on your memory and they don’t get more memorable than Michael Franti & Spearhead.
