Following the first single Take It From Me released last month the
highly anticipated second single/video & title track from Bailey's upcoming EP Still On My Mind is out Friday 23rd October.
New single Still On
My Mind was crafted pre Baileys working hiatus to Berlin for
the summer. Still
On My Mind is thought provoking and resonates with all
listeners, perfectly matched with her self-funded video shot by Wolf Brooks.
In Baileys own words “S.O.M.M is about a moment of
clarity, getting clear about what you ‘want’ rather than what you actually
‘need’. It’s about poor decision-making and in turn forgetting where you are
from & where your roots are, S.O.M.M is about being recluse and not asking
for help and then ultimately re-centring yourself as a result of this. This
happening in an unconscious cycle.
In the video the colour
grading and the emptiness of the room reflects this state of mind. The
repetitive nature of the camera angles also reflective of one’s tendency to
ruminate on one's absence. The camera lens is sometimes out of focus, and
conversely when it sharpens up, it depicts moments of clarity.”
There is definitely
something about Bailey Wiley. If you weren’t hooked on her first single Take
It From Me last month then you will be now.
2015 has seen her tour and collaborate with many of New Zealand's finest
including Fly My Pretties, Raiza Biza, Laughton Kora, Third3ye and
Supervillains RMC, to name a few. Working closely in Berlin with Noah Slee and
producer Ben Esser, and on stage with performances along side Noah at Melt and
Lollapalooza Festivals in Berlin.
You can catch Bailey this summer at Northern Bass & nationwide tours yet to
be released.
Full EP out December
2015.
